Follow these steps to successfully prepare your pet for transportation:
1. Start by microchipping your pet and obtaining a veterinary passport along with the chip if you don’t already have one.
2. Get your pet vaccinated against rabies and other diseases. Vaccinations can be done simultaneously with microchipping.
3. Give your pet 21 days to develop rabies antibodies after vaccination. At this time, begin preparing for the trip by teaching your pet to be carried. Check that the carrier meets IATA standards if he/she is to be carried in cargo luggage, or choose a fabric carrier for the cabin.
4. After 21 days, do a blood test for rabies antibodies. Please ensure that the captions are compliant with UAE requirements.
Please note that for the UAE, captions must be for the last rabies vaccination, and they are valid for exactly one year.
5. Treat your pet 10 days before departure for internal and external parasites at a veterinary clinic and obtain the appropriate stamp from your veterinarian.
6. Before departure, obtain an International Pet Health Certificate and a UAE Health Certificate from the state veterinary clinic.
7. Fill out and pay for the pet entry permit into the UAE: Import Permit and Release Permit.
By following these steps, you can ensure your pet’s safety and comfort during transport.
